A brief history

Our previous company was established in 1917 as stockists of non-ferrous metals and insulating materials for the power and telephone cable industry, and it became the largest independent wire stockists in the United Kingdom.

Diversification into other fields resulted in a management buy-out and since then we have expanded our range of facilities to include some of the most modern machinery for wire drawing, winding, stranding, bunching and braiding.

We have been able to extend our services to the cable industry by supplying accurately wound material, be it single end or multi-end, on customers chosen reels, or by the production of short runs of fine bunch or concentric strand, which are uneconomical for the larger producers.

We have further invested in cut to length & straightening lines, to satisfy the demand for such items as electrodes. We will continue this expansion of our abilities, whilst remaining within the broad scope of our traditional expertise in wire.

Furthermore, we have just invested in a 12 bobbin Carter strander, which will enable us to produce stranded cables of either copper, aluminium or phosphor bronze wire, to a maximum overall diameter of 20mm, or cross sectional area of 300mm².

In May 2009 we closed our manufacturing site in Dorset and moved all our braiding machines to Cheshunt.

All braiding work is now carried out under one roof making it easier for us to supply our existing customer base.
